When Why How

It just happened
but when, why, how?
a pivotal life moment 
unrecorded in time.

My Gates discovery earned no flowers
nor was I lauded for a Lumière gift.
My Fleming cure went unnoticed
and yet, without it, I’m left adrift.

How could they have missed it? 
More so, how could I?
Shall I tempt curiosity
to erase what I’ve carved?

Dare I rewind
merely to trace
what caused my reflection
to earn my embrace?
