Play Me

Play me with abandon
Like Tchaikovsky’s violin
Tender, fervent, boundless
My mind, my heart, my skin

Suitors past have failed me
Much to my chagrin
Only you can swoon me
Lure me into sin

Draw the bow most gently
Safe for all to see
And at a moment’s notice
Their stillness we’ll perceive

Spellbound by our witchcraft
We’ll have no need to hide
For blinded by our music
Their tickets are denied

Go ahead and weave me
Unlike the men before
Whose Machiavellian whispers
Sliced me to the core

Play me with abandon, love
Your metronome I’ll be
And when the tune is over
I’ll guide our hearts to sleep

We’ll shudder in pizzicato
Our trance stilling their sway
Unwinding yet demurely
Nothing seen, nothing to say

Then in a timely manner
We’ll free them from our spell.
They’ll clap, we’ll bow in deference
Nothing seen, nothing to tell

Each year we’ll enchant them
With our exquisite scene
Though tragically we’re clueless
That we tuned to the same dream
