Abundance Unearthed
Like a weary evening sailor
In search of light
Or the echo of your name
Resounding in my heart
Season upon season
In this linear realm called life
I yearn for all of them
Might one perhaps suffice?
A moment to feel
Embrace, revive
A chance to escape
These stifling confines.
Why linger in the shadows
Eluding my grasp?
Let me ride you in the wind
Touch you in the rain
See you in the glass
Ever-patient
Ever-wise
Ever-calm, you remain

To be acknowledged
To be treasured, to be loved;
A sublime universe
Neither hidden nor trussed
Longing to be disrobed
By those who entrust.
And when my busy mind
Succumbs to sleep
And at last are put to rest
My calloused, aching feet
When clamor falls silent
In an abyss of the foretold
Then —and only then—
Can your abundance unfold.
For the unwitting muses who encouraged me to embrace the gentler pace of life: Justine and our OG —the catalysts; Helene, who speaks the language of my soul; Sandy and her daughter, Kayla, whose dolce far niente serendipitously fell into my lap; and my sweet sister, Marisol, who gifted me Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic.
Namaste.
